The project “FINLIT for Rural NEET Empowerment” addresses an urgent and real need: increasing the level of financial literacy and resilience among disadvantaged young people from rural or marginalized communities, including Ukrainian refugees affected by war, economic crises, and social exclusion. Through a strategic partnership between Educreate Association (Romania), Edu2Grow (Portugal), and EUDUCATE (Spain), this Erasmus+ KA210-YOU project proposes an innovative and inclusive approach to youth empowerment through financial education, digitalization, and active community engagement.
Project Objectives
- To increase by at least 70% the technical and institutional capacity of partner organizations to promote financial education for at least 600 vulnerable young people in Romania, Portugal, and Spain.
- To leverage digital technology and artificial intelligence to develop modern educational tools that enhance media literacy and financial responsibility among marginalized youth.
- To increase by at least 60% the level of financial inclusion and autonomy through the acquisition of economic resilience skills, especially among young people affected by crises and conflicts.
- To create a sustainable and replicable European framework for youth financial education, involving at least six youth organizations and launching the European Youth Volunteers Corps for Financial Inclusion and Resilience (VYCE).
Target Groups
- NEET youth from rural areas and low-income families (14–22 years old)
- Ukrainian refugees (15–20 years old) enrolled in educational hubs in Romania, Spain, and Portugal
- Young people belonging to minorities (Roma, persons with disabilities, young mothers, youth of African origin)
- Youth workers, educators, counselors, mentors, and youth project managers
Key Activities and Results
- International training course for youth workers (5 days, in Portugal): development of competences in financial education, gamification, AI integration, and support for young people in crisis.
- Micro-learning kit: a digital, interactive, and multilingual educational package (RO, EN, PT, ES, UA) dedicated to financial literacy and inclusion.
- Digital tools: podcasts, digital storytelling, an educational escape room (“The Lottery Winner”) – gamified concepts for experiential learning.
- Local program “Youth for Community – CIFVYC”: peer-to-peer workshops, local courses, awareness campaigns, and volunteering activities for financial inclusion.
- Information campaigns on financial education and Erasmus+ opportunities for young people.
- Youth-friendly financial tools: savings accounts, microcredits, and money management applications.
- Creation of an informal European network of youth organizations that can continue and multiply the project results.
Impact and Innovation
The project aligns with three Erasmus+ priorities:
- Inclusion and diversity: adapting educational content to the specific needs of vulnerable youth
- Digital transformation: integrating artificial intelligence, gamification, and online learning
- Quality and innovation in youth work: through skills development, civic engagement, and European cooperation
Through applied financial education, modern methods, and transnational collaboration, the project contributes to strengthening young people’s autonomy, increasing their chances of economic and social integration, and building a generation of resilient, aware, and active young people in their communities.
